How do you define yourself?

How do you define yourself?

Last week I met yet another new client who has essentially defined herself by her failures.

It reminded me of my school days: in my first year at senior school, aged 11, I failed my end of year History exam and it haunted me for years. Later on when I took my GCSEs I failed Religious Education and for years afterwards, despite passing 8 subjects, I defined myself by my failures.

Not until I had a BSc and a PhD did I decide "Enough is Enough" and I signed up for a course in Comparative Religion - best thing I ever did: apart from enjoying the course it taught me to define myself in terms of my successes and my achievements and not to dwell on my failures! #personaldevelopment #careeradvice #successes #achievements
